We moved into the Rainen's Florida house and the boys were thrilled to sleep in the 'Harry Potter' closet. So funny. That was the coolest thing about their house (and the elevator, of course). We told them the elevator was broken and they bought our white lie.
For our play date, we went to the little girl's house and she invited one other family to her house. They were from Denmark so the kids didn't speak English. It was awesome. All the kids played until they tuckered out around lunch time. We went into her grandpa's house and had a typical summer BBQ of burgers, brats, and chips. It was successful with the exception of the grandpa not being pleased that his daughter and granddaughter invited every Tom, Dick and Harry over. Fun stuff!
We met more kids on the beach and played. Saw a wedding (reminded me of ours with all the kids watching on) and simply enjoyed ourselves. Truly.
We decided we better do something besides beach, so we opted to support their local zoo and putt putt course. It was nice, but way too hot and humid so back to the beach we went! Eban earned a time out or two for not sharing toys (I love the fact that all the kids kinda share the toys with other beach neighbors). At one point, Jack and I were swimming out further than normal and the only two people out further than us were an older mother and her daughter. I see them tense up and start hugging one another while backing up. I yell out to them...SHARK?! They put up their shoulders as they don't know what the black mass is near them. Eventually, that slow dark mass came up and it's a HUGE manatee!! All together there were three of them slowly swimming along and Jack and I were SO darn close to them. Eban and daddy were too close to the beach but soon enough, the entire beach knew there were manatees out in the water and everyone came a-running in the water to catch a glimpse. It was nerve-wracking and exciting all at once. How crazy!
And finally we had to take off...can't believe the pilots let my kids in the cockpit, but they did.
