I forgot about another story when I was in D.C. As I was heading through the nation's Capitol building, I was stopped at the security line - - and they are uber-serious about security. I had a mushed Payday bar in the bottom of my purse (it got stuck in between the lining) and they asked me to throw it away and return to the line. I did what they said and I sadly told my nasty Payday bar goodbye, and then I was stopped again. The security officer asked me how old my son was in a gruff tone. I was shocked to know that he knew I had a son, so I replied, "Which one?" He handed me back my purse which they went through again and told me I had plenty of Matchbox cars to go around for a bunch of boys so he assumed I had a son.
Obviously, I keep a stash of cars in my purse, but at least I didn't have to throw those away along with my candy bar.
On another trip with Tutu, we took the boys to the Denver Botanic Gardens. They loved running all around and watching the helicopters manuver above. I have no idea why there were so many helicopters but the boys thought that was really cool. There was also construction going on at the Botanic Gardens so the boys had to watch that and talk about how awesome that was. I think they didn't find a new affinity for greenery or flowers - - they just got more excited about big machines and flying helicopters.
On another note, Eban got sent to the principal's office twice in one day - - AT PRESCHOOL. I hope this is the only time this happens. But he stuck his tongue out at the teacher so off he went with the principal. And the second time, as he was coming in from outdoor play, he did not want to stand in line with his age group. He wanted to be at the front of the line with the big kids. As the principal told him to get back in line, Eban loudly announced that he didn't have to listen to her because, "she was ugly and XXX." That word rhymes with cat, but I'm too embarrassed to write it.
The principal was very nice about it saying that she wants to hold him accountable for his actions at school which I want too...but I just can't believe he did that. Especially because it was in front of the little school kids and teachers. Lovely.
Jack loves the game "concert". All he wants is to be introduced and he'll run into any room where you introduce him - - it's great as it wears him out and all I have to do is proudly announce that JACKSON TRACY is coming into the room and he excitedly runs in and shows off. Then immediately demands, "MORE CONCERT, mama," as he scowls and walks away all serious-like.
